The spleen has a pivotal role in the resolution of a malaria infection, however the relative contributions of the spleen, the immune system and antimalarial drug therapy in the clearance of parasites is not well understood. The aims of this project are to (i) provide a greater understanding of the specific role of the spleen after antimalarial treatment and (ii) develop and validate a murine model of immunodeficiency and malaria for the assessment of antimalarial treatment regimens.
