About the Club

Our logo is proudly based on the WABRI colors to suggest our association with the institute, and aims to represent the professional group of postgraduate students that make up the club. The symbol represents a DNA helix on it's side to illustrate that we are innovative and lateral in our abilities to think, problem solve and interact.

The logo also includes our mission statement which is to produce world class research scholars. It was designed by Dave Chandler.

Our mission, vision and goals
VISION

To produce world-class research scholars

MISSION
To promote and enhance the research, communication and life skills of our research students, enabling them to become leaders and active contributors within the scientific and broader communities

OBJECTIVES

The vision and mission will be achieved by building our activities on these principal objectives:
  • Enhance the communication and social skills of our research students
  • Provide research students access to a rich and useful knowledge base developed by our members
  • Build a culture of enthusiasm for science and a willingness to collaborate
  • Engender confidence in research students
  • Provide research students with important networking, research and personal development opportunities
  • Facilitate the dissemination of our members' research findings and knowledge
  • Engender scientific integrity and ethics amongst research students
  • Enhance the profile of our research students, WABRI and the university

ACTIVITIES

To achieve these objectives, the club organises a number of activities. These include:

Research Symposiums

The Club holds an annual research symposium where students will present their research findings to staff and postgraduate students from all three Schools. This is intended to allow students to present their findings to a wider research community. We envisage that this event will also provide significant networking and collaboration opportunities.

Social Events

The club holds a number of social events, which provide networking opportunities.
